Goober is committed to respecting and protecting your personal privacy. Our privacy policy is explained below.
Questions regarding our privacy policy should be directed to: Goober Networks, Inc. 16 Douglas Court Dover, DE 19901 U.S.A.
This privacy policy applies to the web page ending goobersearch.com that contains a link to this privacy policy at the bottom of the web page.
Inclusion of the Goober logo at the top of a web page does not necessarily mean that this privacy policy applies. Be sure to check the URL that you link to from Goober web pages to determine whether this privacy policy applies. If you have any questions about this, contact us at Goobernetworks.
You can visit our site and use most of our services without having to tell us who you are or reveal any personally identifiable information to us. There are, however, a few instances where we do collect personally identifiable information in order to fulfil your request.
Whenever you visit Goobersearch.com, our web server logs automatically receive and record anonymous information* from your web browser including your IP Address**, Goober cookie*** information, the Goober page(s) you request, the time spent on each web page and any search terms you query.
Goober uses this anonymous information to customize your experience on our site, to show you more relevant advertising messages, and to improve our services in general. We ordinarily do not attempt to link this information to a specific person.
*Anonymous Information is information that ordinarily cannot be traced back to a particular person. Anonymous information is data about how you use our site (such as the pages you view and the search terms you query). For example, at Goobernetworks we know how many people visit this privacy policy Details page each day, but we don't necessarily know the names or any other specific information about those visitors. Anonymous information also includes the domain names and/or IP addresses of Internet browsers that visit our site, the time of day the site was visited, and other non-personal information.
** IP Addresses
An Internet Protocol is a set of numbers that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you log on to your Internet service provider or through your company's local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN). Web servers, the powerful computers that provide web pages for viewing, automatically identify your computer by the IP address assigned to it during your session online.
We collect IP addresses for some purposes (for example, to report anonymous user information to our advertisers and to audit the use of our site). We do not link a user's IP address to a person's personal information, which means we will have a record of each user's session but the user remains anonymous to us.
PLEASE NOTE: We will use IP addresses to identify users of our site when we feel it is necessary to enforce compliance with our site's Terms of Use or to protect our service, site or other users from fraudulent behaviour. Furthermore, under certain circumstances to comply with court orders and subpoenas, IP address and/or domain names may be linked to personally identifiable information, when said information is stored in databases managed by Internet registrars or registries such as Network Solutions or ARIN (American Registry for Internet Numbers).
*** Cookies
A "cookie" is a very small text file that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. It assigns a computer a unique identifier. It is essentially your identification card when you return to a web site. Cookies do not damage your computer.
Unless your browser is set to allow third parties to extract information (and the most popular browsers such as Netscape, AOL and Internet Explorer do not allow it), then cookies will not extract information from your hard drive. Rather, cookies save you time when you surf the Internet. They help us to provide you customization while you use our site without your having to remind us of your preferences each time you return to our web pages. You are not required to accept cookies in order to use our site. You can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. Each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.
Each web site can send cookies to your browser if your browser's preferences allow it, but in the interest of your privacy, your browser will only allow a web site to access the cookies it has already sent to your computer, not the cookies sent to your computer by other web sites.
When you choose to tell a friend via email Goobernetworks will collect personal identifiable information from you. All our emails are initiated and sent by the request of the users. We will also send this invitation only once and will not send any reminders thereafter. All emails are clearly marked as invitation from friends showing the email and name of the inviting person to the invitee. Furthermore all emails sent by Goobernetworks contain a sing out link in accordance with the CAN-SPAM act.
In the few instances where Goober collects personally identifiable information, Goober will not share it with other companies or individuals unless:
We have your permission to share the information; or
We need to share your information with certain third parties with which we have a business relationship in order to provide a product or service you have requested. Unless we tell you otherwise, these third parties do not have the right to use your personal information we share with them beyond what is necessary to deliver your requested product or service; or
We are responding to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process, to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; or
If Goobernetworks is acquired by another company whether through merger or purchase of its stock or all or substantially all of its assets, we will share the information with the acquiring company.
Furthermore, Goobernetworks will not sell or disclose your personally identifiable information as customer lists to anyone. Nor will we share with anyone personally identifiable information about you that is of medical, financial or sexual nature.
Goobernetworks shares some of the user information, such as user trends, search language, and time of day with third parties that may set and access cookies on your computer. Other advertisers or advertising services may set cookies but this information is not shared with Goobernetworks nor is it personally identifiable information.
None of these third parties nor any other advertiser or advertising service, receives personally identifiable information from Goobernetworks. However, certain advertisements or contests you see on our site may provide for the collection of personally identifiable information. Such information is never shared with Goobernetworks.
Goobernetworks operates secure data networks protected by industry standard firewall and password protection. We have security measures in place to attempt to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of your user data.
Only certain employees have access to the information you provide us.
Goobernetworks updates this policy from time to time. If we are going to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify you via email. You will have a choice as to whether or not we use your information in this different manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our databases, we will post a prominent notice on our web site notifying users of the change. Bear in mind that the only way to ensure your personal privacy whenever you are on the Internet is to make sure your browser is configured so that you are alerted to all cookies.
If you have any questions or concerns about this privacy policy or the practices of this site, please contact us at Goobernetworks.
